Notified About

  • Jefferson Rd & Mt Lucas Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton North
Thank you for installing signs at two intersections with Valley Road saying "Cross traffic does not stop." These signs are also urgently needed at the stop signs on Mt. Lucas Rd. where it intersects with Jefferson Rd. I've reported this is a dangerous intersection in the past, and TWICE this week I've almost been hit by people driving on Mt. Lucas who slow down to stop and then go right through the intersection assuming the traffic on Jefferson also stops.

For several months, water has been flowing off this property over the sidewalk, saturating the grass on either side. There's an orange traffic cone (also here for several months) to alert pedestrians of the water, but no action has been taken to solve the problem.

  • 36 Witherspoon St Princeton, NJ 08542, USA - Princeton
Most days, there are four or more large blue recycling bins in and lining the crosswalk at Spring St.and Witherspoon St. Thes bins, combined with the adjacent concrete block and street signs, make it very difficult for drivers going down the hill on Witherspoon St. to see pedestrians in the crosswalk. Pease address this safety issue by making sure the recycling bins are removed from the crosswalk and 1) not put back in the crosswalk and 2) not put put in a location that prevents drivers from seeing pedestrians.

I am filing this under Other because Graffiti is not an option (but I hope you'll consider adding that!)

I'm happy to upload more photos but I think if the responsible department will just walk from Dohm Alley through the parking area, back of D'Angelos, up Tulane and the to the corner of Nassau and Vendeventer, you'll see that the CBD is attracting much more tagging. Some of the tags have been here for over 12 months.

For the past week there has been insanely loud drilling and construction noise that begins around 10:30PM and often goes as late as 4AM. The work is being done on Witherspoon St., but can be clearly heard - through CLOSED windows - two streets away. It is an extreme instance of noise pollution that many other people who also live in the area have noted. We have all called Princeton PD, who say that there is nothing they can do as the work has an "emergency permit". If it is an "emergency", why is the work ONLY being done late-night? I frequently walk by the area throughout the day and there is no progress during daylight hours. It is an irresponsible and unacceptable amount of noise that fully disturbs all who live in the vicinity - we and our children need to be able to sleep (before 4 AM!) in order to go to work and school. It's egregious, and I will be following up in every manner possible until it ceases. Thank you.
  • 90-198 Randall Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton North
Anticipating increased traffic on Terhune, Please paint in a crosswalk from Randall Rd across Terhune to the sidewalk along the N side of Terhune. There are downhill approaches on Terhune to this crossing in both directions. These hills constitute a danger because cars tend to speed up when going down and the sight line is limited. A person walking out of Randall must currently engage in dangerous J-walking to reach a sidewalk. Thanks.
  • Hamilton Ave & Walnut Ln Princeton, NJ, 08542, USA - Princeton
This is an unsafe intersection. Many children take this road to and from school. There are no crossing guards either before school when certain activities are taking place, or after school sports. Drivers are mostly speeding and do not stop even for pedestrians in crosswalk. Due to a curve in the road the visibility is particularly poor, and worse at night.

Welcome to the Red Rat Inn, a Roach Motel Company. Still unresolved...
  • 151 Moore St Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton
The announcement speaker and music from the high school track is excessively loud. Volume could be much reduced. It is a disruptive to an entire neighborhood.
  • 111 Jefferson Rd Princeton NJ 08540, United States - Princeton
I live near this intersection Very frequently I hear screeching breaks and horns honking Drivers heading east on Franklin, toward the high school, do not see the stop sign I am concerned about pedestrians particularly children walking to and from nearby schools I feel the Franklin St stop signs should be enhanced or even better it becomes a 4 way stop to slow down speeders on Jefferson road

I recently opened a ticket about serious pedestrian safety concerns with the new Witherspoon Street project (ticket #13879710). Despite agreement from other commenters about the issues raised there, the ticket was closed by the town without any plan to address the issues.

I'd like to get the problems here on record, as I think a dangerous accident is inevitable in the crosswalks here - unless changes are made.

    1. The new crosswalk halfway between Spring Street and Nassau Street is simply not visible to drivers. It is two thin white lines against a background of very light gray pavers. I would invite members of the engineering department to drive down the road and see how hard it is to spot. It's even worse when the sun is bright. It's all too easy to drive down this street without even realizing you've gone through a crosswalk. The crosswalk should be painted in standard cross-hatch white lines, so it's blindingly obvious to drivers. There's no reason not to follow standard safety guidelines here.

    2. There are large construction signs that block the ends of the crosswalk described above and also the crosswalk at the south side of the Spring-Witherspoon intersection. These signs all have the effect of blocking the view of pedestrians who are in the beginning of the crosswalk and are waiting to cross. They should be moved so drivers heading north on Witherspoon can clearly see if people are in the crosswalk, about to step in front of their vehicle.

    3. Delivery drivers frequently park at the southwest corner of the Spring-Witherspoon intersection. This creates additional confusion for drivers (is the car about to move or not?) at an already fraught intersection.

Please address these issues. I am happy to submit a photo I took showing how hard it is to see the two thin white lines that comprise the crosswalk between Spring and Witherspoon.

Please make that crosswalk more visible and move the signs / construction equipment / recycling bins / garbage cans that are blocking the view of pedestrians in the crosswalk at the southern end of the renovated block.
