Agreed. GPD blocked off our one way street to “control traffic”, so cars with music blaring were driving up and down it all night, turning around because of the barrier, and exiting the wrong way. I noticed increased police presence, but apparently it wasn’t enough. Undoubtedly, GPD has a tough job (and does it well), but something has to be done about this. The driving through neighborhoods, parking illegally, and continuous loud music from cars need to stop. The litter resulting from these events is probably my biggest pet peeve. We live in a beautiful city, how hard is it to keep it that way?

I had a call from a tenant on 8th st telling me that because of Fletchers weekly disturbance and the open drug dealing on NW 8th St they will not be resigning a lease this year. The crime is literally driving people out of the area, this cannot be allowed. I myself live in Pleasant St on 3rd Ave and agree that what happened at/around Fletchers Christmas night was WAY out of bounds. My street was a parking lot of cars blasting bass and people openly drinking and doing drugs. If this is going to continue there should be a fleet of squad cars actively patrolling every street and avenue around Fletchers.

The issue reported has been received by Gainesville Police Department and this service request is now closed. This is an ongoing issue that we are aware of. We are working diligently to come up with solutions to decrease the impact to surrounding neighborhoods and businesses. Will it be reported to code enforcement also?

What would the codes violations be? The only thing I hear and see would fall onto the law enforcement side, ie noise, parking, drugs, drinking, public intoxication, littering, etc..
