no U-Turn sign needed

Traveling north towards downtown on s.wilmington street and trying to turn left at the tryon road stoplight needs a no u-turn sign.
In the left turn lane (there are two), people try to make a u-turn. But at the same time the two lanes are turning right from tryon rd to s.wilmington to head south. This causes the car doing a u-turn to hit the brakes at the last minute to stop. The person behind them almost always gets close to hitting them. Then the cars behind the one doing the u-turn are all stuck because of the stopped car(the one attempting the u-turn) and all miss the light.
So this causes high accident potentials in multiple areas as well as backed up traffic.
Ive watched this happen for over a year and its repeatedly an issue and should be evaluated.
