Description
My wife and I walk the town frequently. We are writing to express our concerns about the cigarette butts that litter ALL the public parking areas near the water. This includes Nelson Park (worst right now), Town Wharf, and the public parking facing the ocean on Water Street. There is much research that Cigarette butts leach organic chemicals and heavy metals into the environment that are toxic to fresh and salt-water fish.
People park in these locations to enjoy the view but they are discarding huge amounts of cigarettes onto the ground.
We realize this is a difficult situation to manage but at a minimum these areas need to be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid them ending up in the ocean and also an eyesore for the town.
The other area of concern is there is a street light that is out on School street. Currently this is the only light on School street and it is not working. This street if very dark at night (we walked home from church last night). I know there is a lot of graffiti in that area and would like to ask for additional lighting on that street for safety and to curb the graffiti.
Thanks so much for helping to address these concerns and making Plymouth a clean, safe and healthy place to live.
