Our storm water engineer has provided the following response:
Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done at this moment, the current situation is similar to what we see county wide. It appears that the pond is a full retention pond, water level is currently high and I cannot confirm if there is a spillway or a control structure somewhere within the retention area. If my speculation is right, the recovery of the pond will be majorly through infiltration and evaporation. Right now, the ground is saturated and that explains the slower rate of percolation. If this pond is a full retention pond as it appears, the best that can be done is to clean the pond if there is a need. However, cleaning the pond is not feasible at this time.
If you have any other concerns please feel free to contact Alachua County's Public Works Department by telephone at 352 - 374 - 5245. Please ask for Engineer Olabode Ogendengbe.
